You know, when the topic of Phonte Coleman comes up, it is almost CERTAIN the words, 'new album', 'Pooh', '9th Wonder', when, will, it, happen..REUNION..almost ALWAYS COME UP. At least twice in his mentions a day, Phonte is asked that question directly.* So that happening within itself is not 'news' Notice the 'lack of Twitter handles in the title. That's cause this isn't 'breaking news' in that way. Just something I found 'interesting' and wanted to talk about. That's really it. Again, this is not 'BREAKING NEWS'** or some sorta issue WITH THE PARTIES INVOLVED. Like I said, Phonte gets this question DAILY....

.....Now Amhir asking him IS DIFFERENT THOUGH. If you don't know how, I don't have time to teach you common sense so don't look for an explanation. Just suffice it to say that he is one of the few who are TRULY in a position that they could 'ask' that question and get the response he did. This is the part of the post where I say...

Don't try what Quest did at home kiddies.. 'Te will probably ignore ya.. Or worse...

Jeanne Jolly performing with The Foreign Exchange in Philly...

I am so grateful for the day I got introduced to Jeanne's musical abilities due to the 'An Evening With The Foreign Exchange' taping. Every since then, I have been ENAMORED with her talent, listening to her music and catching her via whatever medium I could. For the last two days I have been listening to the lush sounds of her new album (Which can be heard on her WEBSITE for free if you want to listen before buying it). I just wanted to enjoy it a bit before I wrote about it. I figured I at least should do that EVEN THOUGH I HAD NO DOUBT it would be good. It is very good. Just in time for Fall. Her blend of her Southern roots, Jazz and classical training always amounts to a good time for my ears. Very diverse artist.

I think she has proven she can tackle whatever 'genre' of music you through her way and I flat out refuse to put her in a box musically. Remember, she is a CLASSICALLY TRAINED artist, having toured all over North America with Grammy Award winning jazz trumpeter Chris Botti as well as her many performances with The Foreign Exchange.

Enough about that though...Lets get into her latest video and then I will post up some stuff that will further showcase her talents... (If you are lucky enough, one of her songs may have come up on the music player when you entered the site. There are a few on there after all.)

DX: One thing you said when DX spoke with you last time was that Charity was to be a sort of introductory album that would embody Little Brother Phonte as well as Foreign Exchange Phonte and new listeners could choose which they preferred. The LP really did embody all of you, so what do you do for the next one?

Phonte: [The] next record, I mean… I don’t know. [Laughs] I’ll know when I get there. I know I definitely wanna do another one because I’m kinda feeling that itch now and I took sometime away from the studio after I finished Charity because it was a really draining process. So I had to go live life and recharge my batteries for a bit so I could get a new well of stuff to draw from but I’m starting to hear that noise in my head again so y’all will know once I know. [Laughs] I’m definitely gonna do another solo record but as for when it’s gonna come or what it’s gonna embody I really haven’t figured that out yet but I know it’s gonna happen.

Probably not gonna glean much more about 'em then I already know BUT for those who DON'T KNOW I think it would be GREAT. @ book report comment. Which is why I will eventually get around to putting some money into it in some form. Whether that be sending the kids to see it or buying a deluxe edition on DVD/Blu Ray when that time comes..

This show was DIFFERENT THOUGH @ performance. It wasn't the 'same show' (Nigga that's the point..- Te'). Phonte went into even more historical joints. I am sure video will pop up and if it does, I will add it to the point. I put up a lil taste below. It is always good to see folks you have grown to know over the years do their thing on 'grown folks time'. Chicago is in for a treat. @ the next show they have up.

In true JAMLA/FE, they mingled aferwards..We all got to chop it up a bit and some more things are in the works. @ posts/interviews and the like. I went as a fan last night though. Not as a 'blogger'. Enjoyed myself. Speaking of 'fan aspect.', I went that way and forgot my pen..

It was worth it though 'cause I got a nickname outta the deal. What up 9th? Good times and memorable shit. As usual. Next time, I am gonna make my way down to the 919 and see 'em there again. I think it is time to do that. Stay tuned.
