I did make comments about my teammates when I was talking about the emotional Super Bowl loss, but the handful of words that were used and heavily publicized yesterday were pulled out of a long conversation and the context was lost. Obviously, I would never say that it was all Ben’s or Rashard’s fault that we lost the Super Bowl. That would be ridiculous. Both Ben and Rashard are great players and great teammates. Clearly the entire team bears responsibility for the loss, me included. It was a team effort and a team loss. My teammates know me well, and hopefully understand the things I said were not meant to accuse them of the loss. We all have discussed several things that went wrong in the Super Bowl since that day. What I do apologize for and take full responsibility for is for speaking in such a candid manner to someone outside the team.
I also need to make clear that the comment about Roger Goodell was not intended to be derogatory against gay people in any way. It was careless use of a slang word and I apologize to all who were offended by the remark. I am not a homophobic bigot, and I would never advocate intolerance of gay people.
As far as the photo that was shown on air yesterday, collecting guns is a hobby of mine, and I advocate the responsible use of firearms. I believe in the right to bear arms. I like to go to the shooting range. I like to hunt. I like to fish. I could just as easily have posed with my fishing poles but it obviously wouldn’t be an interesting picture for the magazine. I am not promoting gun violence by posing for that photo. There are also other photos in the magazine story that were not shown on air yesterday – including me with my sons, with my mom and as a kid.
Unfortunately, the above items and other comments have detracted from the original purpose of the story – a position I have been advocating for some time now. If player safety is the NFL’s main concern, as they say it is, they are not going about it in an effective manner. There’s nothing about extending the season or issuing exorbitant fines on defensive players that makes any shift toward the prevention of injury to players.
I believe that the league may have been feeling increasing pressure about injuries and concussions last year, and that they panicked and put rules in place that weren’t fully thought out. I’m not advocating more flags and fines, I’m just saying that the current rules are not completely fair, and I don’t believe in the way that the league is handling their position as overseer of the NFL and the well-being of its players.
As far as the character and reputation hits I may suffer as a result of my comments in the article, I’ll take those hits and more if it brings increased attention to the re-examination and installation of rules and regulations that would create a real impact on player safety.

The fact that he apologized should be looked upon as highly favorable. Thing is though, when others that Skip doesn't like 'apologize', he doesn't believe them or give them the benefit of the doubt. So I'm not quite sure others will give it to him either. I am even more sure THAT SKIP DOESN'T GIVE A FUCK IF WE BELIEVE IT OR NOT. By we, I am including Chris Broussard by the way. (I make no claim to knowing their off camera relationship so I could be dead wrong. I can admit that. Unlike the person in question..) So I don't feel bad calling him on the 'authenticity' of his apologies.
Clearly, he just did it so I don't have video of his 'apology' yet but I saw it. I will put it up here later...
Now I don't agree with EVERYTHING that he said but I 'understand' why he said it AND RESPECT THAT IT IS HIS RIGHT TO FEEL THAT WAY. I mean if he can't speak his mind on that without folks logic leaping that the ENTIRE ORGANIZATION feels that way then the WORLD is in a sad state of affairs. Which is what I 'heard' was the line of thinking by a few. Mofos are REALLY THAT STUPID? Not buying it. Just say you didn't like what he said and leave it at that. Don't play that 'Does the city/organization feel that way' card? Surely you have more COMMON SENSE THAN THAT. Surely.
Don't worry..I 'get it' @ why there was a need to apologize for publicity sake but I don't think he had anything to apologize for truthfully. Doesn't mean that I 'agree with him' either totally but he shouldn't have to apologize for that to me.

Oh that's right...He is a football player. Shame on him for FUCKING THINKING.
You can't CONDEMN FOLKS ON ONE HAND FOR CELEBRATING THE DESTRUCTION THAT 9/11 CAUSED AND THEN TURN AROUND AND GET MAD 'CAUSE YOU GET CALLED ON IT FOR DOING THE SAME THING WHEN THE PERSON CAUSED IT DIED. Either it is okay to 'celebrate' death or it isn't. Which is all that Rashard is guilty of pointing out. But no..no ..no no NO! You didn't like that. How dare he point out that NOW? He should have waited...For? For you to get out of your feelings? For you to remember that you condemned others for doing the same when death happened on your SOIL? (Which would have NEVER HAPPENED BY THE WAY.) I am sure that some of you have some REAL CONVENIENT REASONS WHY IT IS OKAY for you and not for others. Keep on MISSING THE POINT OF HIS STATEMENTS.
Again..I am not with him on the conspiracy part of it but I understand. THE INITIAL STATEMENT THOUGH? Oh I get it. He called folks on their hypocrisy and they got mad about it. He called a SPADE A SPADE. Fuck it.
Now I know that some of you are SO DENSE that you will think that I am 'anti-American'. That is the FURTHEST THING FROM THE TRUTH. You see, I actually have to make some sorta of an apology/correction to the posts I have made about Cyn. I have been sending them to the wrong Twitter account...smh or rather 'crediting' them to the wrong account. Fuck the excuses, I just messed up. Period. Good thing about running your own spot? You can do things like this. Bad thing? No one to pass the blame to. Ha! It still hasn't stopped folks from coming to check for all the pictures labeled with her name BUT I imagine that MANY MORE would have come had I PROPERLY credited the right Twitter. So that is shame on me.
Now she has 14k followers so I don't think she is 'hurting' in that regard but I DO THINK GIVING HER PROPER CREDIT for her photos would be only right. Don't you? Good. So we are gonna do that. Today.
I can't imagine you 'regulars' to the blog being MAD about seeing more past pictures of Cyn Santana....So bare with me as I try to cover EVERY BLOG POST I HAVE MADE ABOUT HER in this post via link (and OF COURSE PICTURES...) to try and rectify the situation. C. The 'offending' word. She had a point. Regardless as to whether she is racist or not. People will shoot the messenger because of their beliefs. People love to straddle that line. Especially US. Yes, I said US. I am one of 'US'. Don't come getting all offended now because we aren't talking about the 'Jersey Shore' and being happy it isn't 'us' on TV. Don't run away from it now. @ 'us'.
Look, I DEFINITELY know when the word is being used in an offensive manner. Thing is, it doesn't bother me like that anymore. It did at one time. I used to get all in a huff over it. Get ready to fight. Get emotional. Not anymore. I have been on a mission to not let that word evoke the reactions that it was intended to invoke. (Just like I have resolved to do so with the words/phrases/mottos my OWN FUCKING COMMUNITY CONTINUES TO TRY TO SHOVE DOWN MY THROAT.) At worse, I will call you the equivalent back and KEEP IT MOVING. As long as you don't touch or harm me, I am good. At my best, I will look at you like you have four heads and with a Chris Rock "They still make you?" look on my face. People sound like relics to me running up on me with that mess. Some of you need to do the same. Particularly of the latter, which is what I am hoping will be my permanent response to it eventually. It is almost like a "Thank you for letting me know you are racist, I will keep note' kinda thing with me. @ when it happens.

These are my opening comments from my radio program today:
I talk every day about doing the right thing. And yesterday, I did the wrong thing.
I didn’t intend to hurt people, but I did. And that makes it the wrong thing to have done.
I was attempting to make a philosophical point, and I articulated the “n” word all the way out - more than one time. And that was wrong. I’ll say it again - that was wrong.
I ended up, I’m sure, with many of you losing the point I was trying to make, because you were shocked by the fact that I said the word. I, myself, realized I had made a horrible mistake, and was so upset I could not finish the show. I pulled myself off the air at the end of the hour. I had to finish the hour, because 20 minutes of dead air doesn’t work. I am very sorry. And it just won’t happen again.
I received some letters, and what touched me is that, even though many of you were upset, you still showed friendship for all the years we’ve been together on the air, and for that, trust me, I am very grateful. Here’s an example:
I’d like to thank this woman for sending me this letter. I was so very touched, and truthfully, it helped me make it through the night. So I’m going to read this letter:
Dear Dr. Laura:
I have been a listener for at least 20 years. I have bought and read several of your books. I have always held you in high regard, and have encouraged others to listen to you as well. I have to say, after today’s call with the African-American woman with the Caucasian husband who called seeking how to handle “racist” comments, I am a bit dismayed. I believe that African-Americans using the n-word is disdainful, as well as Caucasians or any other race for that matter. I agree that the argument some African-Americans use that it is ok for them to use it and not others, is ridiculous. But, I have to say, when I heard you saying the word repeatedly, it struck a negative chord with me.
I don’t believe you are a racist, and I don’t believe, as an African-American woman, that I am hypersensitive. I have to say after the call, I found it difficult to continue to listen to the rest of the show. I have not made the decision to stop listening to your show, but I felt compelled to respond because I found it offensive.

The caller in question (her name is Jade), called for help from me, and didn’t get it, because we got embroiled in the “n” word, and I’m really sorry about that, because I’m here for only one reason and that’s to be helpful, so I hope Jade or somebody who knows her is listening, and hope she will call me back and I will try my best to be helpful, which is what she wanted from me in the first place and what she did not get.
Either you love it or you hate it. Think it is wack 'cause he 'spoke so well that you could tell it was written' or love it 'cause he spoke on it 'finally' and gave an apology.
My opinion? Rehearsed or not. Written statement. Practiced for hours or done on the fly. He manned up. He ,by himself, spoke on it. He said everything he was supposed to say and more actually.
Like I said, some of you will hate it. Probably 'cause you did some shit and nobody forgave your ass like they should have. Fine. Take it out on Chris. Have it. I don't care. You are miserable anyway in all likely hood.
Some of you will LOVE IT to the point that you can brush off the events that happened. Cool. Act like he did 'nothing' wrong.
I will be in the middle. Accepting the apology for what it was and knowing that he should be able to be forgiven but that he should also work on himself to better himself and reactions to a situation like that. That he understands who to choose. When to walk away and when TO RUN. Hope he learned all of that through this and I wish the man success. Just like it should be. I hope that some of those same 'men' that were dissing him, also reached out and showed him how to be a man. Complaining loudly and clowning a person does not make them better. I thought we figured that out already?
We all fuck up. He is no different. The man who 'allegedly' prevented him from performing at the Awards fucks up and I RIDE WITH HIM AS AN ARTIST/PERSON surely isn't perfect. I mess up. You mess up. We all mess up. It is time to for people to stop taking their personal feelings/situations and mixing it into a situation that we STILL don't have the entire factuals to. He apologized. It is done with. Can we let it rest now? Yes, I know I did a blog on it too. Only because it is all over the place. But I am not here dragging the dude down or rehashing the events or showing pics of her face either. Big difference.
Let me be clear. I need you to SUPPORT the artist whose music you see/hear in the music player here. Some of them are my FRIENDS!! I want them to make money. So while I may put up a link here or there that they didn't 'endorse', it is only out of the love for their music and the fact that I want you to SUPPORT THEM. So please do. Seek out their music. Some of them are VASTLY UNDERRATED and your FAVORITE MUSICIAN loves them. So it isn't 'talent'. It is exposure. Which is all I am trying to give them here..
