I did make comments about my teammates when I was talking about the emotional Super Bowl loss, but the handful of words that were used and heavily publicized yesterday were pulled out of a long conversation and the context was lost. Obviously, I would never say that it was all Ben’s or Rashard’s fault that we lost the Super Bowl. That would be ridiculous. Both Ben and Rashard are great players and great teammates. Clearly the entire team bears responsibility for the loss, me included. It was a team effort and a team loss. My teammates know me well, and hopefully understand the things I said were not meant to accuse them of the loss. We all have discussed several things that went wrong in the Super Bowl since that day. What I do apologize for and take full responsibility for is for speaking in such a candid manner to someone outside the team.
I also need to make clear that the comment about Roger Goodell was not intended to be derogatory against gay people in any way. It was careless use of a slang word and I apologize to all who were offended by the remark. I am not a homophobic bigot, and I would never advocate intolerance of gay people.
As far as the photo that was shown on air yesterday, collecting guns is a hobby of mine, and I advocate the responsible use of firearms. I believe in the right to bear arms. I like to go to the shooting range. I like to hunt. I like to fish. I could just as easily have posed with my fishing poles but it obviously wouldn’t be an interesting picture for the magazine. I am not promoting gun violence by posing for that photo. There are also other photos in the magazine story that were not shown on air yesterday – including me with my sons, with my mom and as a kid.
Unfortunately, the above items and other comments have detracted from the original purpose of the story – a position I have been advocating for some time now. If player safety is the NFL’s main concern, as they say it is, they are not going about it in an effective manner. There’s nothing about extending the season or issuing exorbitant fines on defensive players that makes any shift toward the prevention of injury to players.
I believe that the league may have been feeling increasing pressure about injuries and concussions last year, and that they panicked and put rules in place that weren’t fully thought out. I’m not advocating more flags and fines, I’m just saying that the current rules are not completely fair, and I don’t believe in the way that the league is handling their position as overseer of the NFL and the well-being of its players.
As far as the character and reputation hits I may suffer as a result of my comments in the article, I’ll take those hits and more if it brings increased attention to the re-examination and installation of rules and regulations that would create a real impact on player safety.

This is the part that has everyone in an uproar...
On high and low hits:

If a guy has a choice of hitting me high or low, hit me in the head and I’ll pay your fine. Just don’t hit me in the knee, ‘cause that’s life-threatening. How’m I going to feed my family if I can’t run?”
On the 2004 season:
“I should have another ring. We were the best team in football in 2004, but the Patriots, who we beat during the regular season, stole our signals and picked up 90 percent of our blitzes [in the AFC title game]. They got busted for it later, but, hey, they’re Goodell’s boys, so he slapped ‘em $500,000 and burned the tapes. Was he going to rescind their Super Bowls? Man, hell no!”
On the two interceptions thrown by Ben Roethlisberger in last year’s Super Bowl:
“Hey, at least throw a pick on their side of the field instead of asking the D to bail you out again. Or hand the ball off and stop trying to act like Peyton Manning. You ain’t that and you know it, man; you just get paid like he does.”
On Pittsburgh safety Troy Polamalu:

He’s so polite and talks so softly that he could tell he could tell Goodell to kiss his ass, and Goodell would smile and say thank you.”

First of all, it is JAMES HARRISON. When has he NOT spoken his mind? This is the same dude that refused to go to the White House. Pulled the crazy fan off the field. Basically does CRAZY SHIT. All. The. Time. So color me surprised that he did an interview, saying things that most wouldn't say and he didn't flinch. It is your own fault if you are shocked James said these things.
Second, did he lie? I mean, lets go back and look at what he REALLY SAID. I mean did he lie? Did he not say pretty much the SAME THINGS THAT WE HAVE ALL SAID about all of those situations in some shape, form or fashion? Oh... Which leads me to the third and probably biggest point..
You people and your selective 'uncouth' tolerance. Your creed is flawed Jack..

I say that because for some of you, when James was speaking on the hitting issues and the fines, you were ALL FOR IT. When he went in on other subjects it was cool because he 'spoke his mind'. You loved it. Now that he does an interview speaking on Ben (right or wrong) or on Mendy (right or wrong) you wanna turn on him. It is your own fault though. See, the thing about condoning folk's unbridled behavior with out holding them to some standard is that is that you can't 'control what they might say. One day the 'verbal gun' is gonna get pointed back at you. Which is why I don't PROMOTE just wholehearted 'outspokenness without thinking' like many of you do. Now you want someone to 'control' him or to 'shut him up'. Don't beg off now. You should have thought about that when you said 'If BEAST doesn't want to see the President he doesn't have to...' or set the standard earlier. Now I am not saying James hasn't always been like this as I have not known hm his whole life. I DO KNOW, however that since he has been in the spotlight, this is his M.O. and not too many who are INSIDE the fan base or a fan of (for lack of a better term) 'asshole 101 speak' (Where you show NO TACT TO THE SITUATION AND SAY EXACTLY HOW YOU FEEL AT ALL TIMES. CONSEQUENCES BE DAMMED..) have been outraged. Now that he is calling out teammates, its a problem. Thing is, WHAT EXACTLY THE HELL DO YA'LL THINK THE WORD 'accountability' means when you spout it off after these players make mistakes? We all get on Twitter and Facebook and say things 100 TIMES WORSE than what James said. Hell, if he had called out William Gay I would be ELATED truthfully. Players messed up and he spoke on it. I don't see the big deal. Your favorite player does that shit and it is 'leadership'. James does it and it is 'being an ass'. Make up your minds people. He spoke up. If his teammates don't like it, they will say something to him. (Yeah...yeah..yeah..I know YOU WOULDN'T SAY ANYTHING TO HIM..way to make it all about you again. Good job Champ!)
Furthermore, STOP ACTING SHOCKED when James Harrison says things that maybe 'you wouldn't say'. Isn't that what you demand out of folks? Honesty?
Or are you mad because James Harrison took all the 'speculation' out of what he is thinking and has reduced your 'lol' joke pool? @ those of you use 'speculation' as fodder for jokes. I know for some of you Life is no fun if you can't speculate about what others are feeling. (No, I am serious. I really think some of you have issues with that. Especially some of you dudes. There is a correction...there because I am told that he is Kerayon Fox....Whom I have never seen without his helmet on unless it was Madden..So I stand corrected. Makes sense though 'cause James Farrior is also in that pic. They usually walk in together from what I have seen of practices and stuff.

I’m going to rant one good time and get it over with. So the NFL says they are extremely worried about player safety, right? But the League wants to add two more games and make it an 18 game season even though they are fully aware of the physical toll playing the game takes on every player and they know the physical condition players are in at the end of the season? Plus....more games = more chances for players to get concussions and other injuries. And starting in March, players will no longer have health insurance provided by the League because of the potential lockout, but they are so concerned about player safety, right?
So the League is so concerned for player safety. So they fine $25k for an out and out boxing match on the field in the middle of a game, but they fine me a total of $125k for doing my job. With that being said, I am doing my job the same exact way I did my job in 2008 when the League honored me with the Defensive Player of the Year Award.
And another thing... the League fined Denver’s coach $50k and the team $50k for outright cheating by filming another team’s practice. That makes me think that maybe the League doesn’t consider cheating, which compromises the integrity of the entire game, quite as important as what THEY recently decided to consider illegal hits (when most players, coaches, fans and anybody with an ounce of football common sense can see they are clean, legal hits).
While we are talking about cheating, what ever happened with the New England Patriot’s cheating scandal a few years back? They were caught cheating for what turned out to be years and ended up with total fines of $500,000 for the coach and $250,000 for the team. But that whole thing was swept under the rug, you barely hear a thing about it now, but I’m being burned at the proverbial stake and fined a total of $125,000 in two months for doing my job well.
Speaking of fines.....where does all this fine money go? Exactly where does it end up? Everyone knows it goes to a charitable organization. But which charitable organization? Who are the board members, directors and interested parties in the organizations that benefit from what amounts to MILLIONS of dollars a year? I wonder if any of them are NFL executives.
The fined players can’t pick where the money goes, but I think it’s reasonable to expect to at least see where it ends up...what do you think? I wonder if the League takes off an administrative fee from the total before the donation is given....just a thought. If anyone has any details or a report, please email it to me or something.

Just come on up here and put this shoe on cuz....lol..You KNOW it is for you.) that thought it was SO LATE when he got hit. Was the ball gone? Yeah..by a half a second. Okay, NORMALLY, I would comment on the game 'lightly' as I probably have already covered it PRETTY well on my main Twitter or on Facebook. Since I was actually AT THE GAME, I couldn't do that. I was too busy watching, taking flicks and enjoying the game to do much of the former honestly. So you get that here and all the pictures I am going to post up are ones I took myself. So you can have a better understanding of why (how) I could POSSIBLY say what I am about to say....
I normally don't like to say the 'League' is out to get ANYONE. However....
....14 times we got called for penalties for a franchise-record 163 yards..
...Four straight plays we got called for penalties. Oh we kicked behind but that doesn't make this RIGHT. That is RIDICULOUS. I won't cry about the calls WE DIDN'T GET but I will complain about the calls we had CALLED against us when it was that way ALL THE AROUND. @ THE PLAY ON THE FIELD. Just terrible...It got so bad that I started FOCUSING ON OLE BUDDY UP TOP (He was the one throwing the majority of the flags..) after each play. Sure enough, like Quick Draw McDraw, he had his hand on his flag, consulting with the other refs to see if he could THROW HIS FLAG..It was like this fool had a QUOTA to hit or something....
The 'punch'. (As I read this, Richard just got fined 25K....I'll take it. Suspension? I am aight with him not getting suspended.)
First of all, to all of you couch potato ass people who don't do anything physical besides lift your remote to flip the TV, punch some keys on a computer or haven't been physically hit in two decades (if ever), let Richard Seymour's 300+ behind punch you and lets see how you stand there and 'take it'. Lets see if you are still on your feet....

Second of all, that wasn't done because Ben 'said something to him'. Trai (Essex) and Richard were jaw jacking and instead of Richard going back at the one of the LINEMAN who giving him THAT WORK and who got into a lil scrum with, HE HITS BEN. Not that Ben isn't above being hit but hit the dude who you were just wrestling with and talking to @ Trai or Kem? Am I taking Ben's word for it? No. I SAW IT. lol It happened on my side of the field. All Ben did was go get Trai and I can SEE HIM TELLING TRAI to "Come on, we scored...lets go.."..He didn't say shit to Richard THEN. Maybe BEFORE or something but right then? No. Kelly and Richard were trying to 'fight' from the beginning and were LOSING THAT BATTLE in the trenches. Straight frustration on Richard's and Tom's part. I don't blame 'em. If I was getting stifled by a line that was 'patched together' due to injuries and I wasn't 'eating' I'd wanna fight too.
Truthfully, like Coach Tomlin said, it was a little out of hand period out there. On both sides. And the refs, for all of their 'flag throwing' didn't do much to make it any better. They never really took control of that UNTIL they threw Richard out. Like I said, Kelly and Richard were keeping it 'extra' on just about every play. Should have been threw a flag on one, if NOT BOTH OF THEM and maybe it doesn't get to that level.
(Interview that was piped into the stadium as we were exiting..Yes, I sat and watched the WHOLE THING. Lovely to hear the post-game IN THE STADIUM..)
Anyway....Enough of that..We played well. Slow start but played well. Great atmosphere (Did you hear us chanting 'Ref you SUCK...Ref you SUCK...?). We threw the ball well and held a rusher who we KNEW was going to get the ball to under 20 yards. (14 yards to be exact. Bush's yards came against the 2nd teamers mostly.) We GOT AFTER THEM. The D said they were embarrassed last week and it showed it. Can't say enough about Mike Wallace. Speedy on TV but out and out FAST on the field. I know for a fact this next guy I am about to show is NOT SLOW and Mike got by him time and time again. (For the record, he was STRIDE FOR STRIDE with one DeSean Jackson in that game they beat Philly so I do have another speedster to gauge him running against..)
