For Hawes, who can shoot but is not known to go in there and bang, and Nocioni who plays the same position as Andre Iggy unless...

....this mean no Evan Turner? I would hope not. I am assuming that if it isn't Turner it will be Favors/Cousins.

Hawes, 22, averaged 10 points and 6.1 rebounds per game last season. Yeah he is 7-1, he plays more on the perimeter player at the offensive end, which must mean that the Sixers are committed to Elton Brand for now. This is 'good' news? He is going to erase all the mistakes on the D like Sammy did? Nocioni?

Samuel Dalembert got his wish.

The Philadelphia 76ers traded Dalembert to the Sacramento Kings on Thursday for Andres Nocioni and Spencer Hawes.

Dalembert asked for a trade last year because he was unhappy with his role. Now, he got it.

"We are excited to add two players in Spencer Hawes and Andres Nocioni who will help us immediately and provide us with additional frontcourt depth," Sixers general manager Ed Stefanski said in a statement. "Spencer is a young seven-footer who will provide us with versatility at the center position, while Andres will provide us with a tough veteran presence."

Dalembert was Philadelphia's longest-tenured player, but he played for seven different coaches and never developed into a dominant force after being drafted in the first round in 2001. The 6-foot-11 center averaged 8.1 points and 8.3 rebounds over eight seasons, and often was mentioned in trade rumors.

Can you say Mike Wallace? Santonio Holmes traded to the Jets.

Remember, we are the same team that (correction) let Plaxico go. We got nothing for that. Santonio is in the last year of his deal. Remember this. We probably already decided not to bring him back or resign him. This should not shock you when it comes across your ticker tomorrow morning. Especially with Mike Wallace waiting in the wings...Bad behavior and someone had to take the blame. We knew it wasn't going to be Ben traded first. Not to say that we won't trade him. 'Cause we will if it keeps up. Santonio allegedly failing a drug test is probably what did him in. We ARE NOT THE EAGLES so Ben wasn't going anywhere just yet. @ trading the franchise quarterback. I hear ya'll screaming "Why didn't ya'll trade Ben?" You know DAMM WELL WHY. He is the damm quarterback. Ask Buffalo, Kansas City, and a couple of other teams what it is like to NOT HAVE A QUARTERBACK. Easier to replace a receiver.

What a strange weekend it has been for Santonio Holmes.

Yesterday, we reported that Holmes is facing a four-game suspension under the substance abuse policy. Tonight, we're told that the Steelers have traded Holmes to the New York Jets.

It's the second time in less than a year that the Jets have swung a deal for a former first-round receiver. Last October, they acquired Braylon Edwards from the Browns.

Like Holmes, Edwards also is facing a likely suspension after pleading no contest to an assault that occurred only days before he was traded. Also, both players are signed through 2010.

Suddenly, HBO's Hard Knocks got a lot more interesting.

UPDATE: Bart Hubbuch of the New York Post reports that the Jets gave up a fifth-round draft pick for Holmes, who was the MVP of Super Bowl XLIII. A fifth-round draft pick for a former Super Bowl MVP.




The Pittsburgh Steelers have earned more negative press than any NFL team in recent weeks, and that didn't sit well with ownership or the team's front office.

Therefore, it was a matter of time before someone took the fall, and that player turned out to be receiver Santonio Holmes.

The Steelers traded the former Super Bowl MVP to the New York Jets for a fifth-round pick, according to ESPN.com's John Clayton. Yes, the Jets fleeced the Steelers by giving up a late-round pick for a very good receiver. But it's clear this move had more to do with off-the-field behavior than on-the-field performance for Pittsburgh.

Holmes was on track to become Pittsburgh's No. 1 receiver before recent incidents put him in the doghouse with the Steelers' brass. He was suspended by the team during the 2008 season for being caught with marijuana in his vehicle. Holmes also admitted to selling drugs as a youth before Super Bowl XLIII, in addition to facing recent allegations this offseason from a woman who claimed a drink was throw at her.

Add in the recent legal troubles with quarterback Ben Roethlisberger, and the Steelers felt something had to be done to begin restoring its public image.

In the end, it's much easier for Pittsburgh to trade a receiver than a $100 million franchise quarterback.
