Of course I would love it if Julio or AJ fell but now that everyone is SO IN LOVE WITH THEM ALL THE SUDDEN (media), I guess I should lower my expectations. I know we won't be taking a WR FIRST ROUND so I have to hope that in the second or third it would happen. One such person who 'may' fall for is this cat. I wouldn't mind having a guy that can go get it when we need it and not have him be 5'8 (as Randle El did SEVERAL TIMES SPECTACULARLY MIGHT I ADD...)

Steelers draft picks for 2010...
I wanted to wait until the draft was done (and make sure we didn't do any trades) before I posted on our picks. I will also touch briefly on who else has 'returned' to us. A practice we NORMALLY don't partake in.
Let me say off top, I wanted Taylor Mays to be a Steeler. Obviously, I don't run the team and I AM FULLY AWARE HE CAN'T COVER. I just thought we could convert him or something. Or let him roam free with Troy being the disciplined one. But that would probably hurt Troy's game and not leave much time for Ryan Clark, who I like too! So I understand why we didn't get him. I also understand why Pete Carroll didn't draft him. He would know better than anyone now wouldn't he?
Round One: Maurkice Pouncey, OL, Florida
He will start off as a guard and learn the offensive line's calls so that he can one day be the center according to Coach Tomlin. I like the pick. We kept asking for a lineman so here we go.
Round Two: Jason Worilds, LB, Virginia Tech 6'1 254 lbs 4.6 40
We breed linebackers. You thought we wouldn't pick one high? We needed a youth injection there too. So here we go. Check the young man out.
Round Three: Emmanuel Sanders, SMU 5'11 186 lbs 4.4 40
I am not mad at the pick. Limas still hasn't proven himself and this guy just makes catches. You have to respect that. He had 98 catches last year
Round Four: Thaddeus Gibson, LB, Ohio State 6'2 243 4.7 40
Played end but will play LB for us. More depth. Can't have enough of that. Here is he getting some instructions.
Round Five: Chris Scott, OL, Tennessee 6'4 338 lbs
Again, you have seen the line. Even those that start need some backups. He should help us.
Round Five: Crezdon Butler, DB, Clemson 5'11 191 lbs 4.41 40
I waited and waited for us to draft a corner. Well, here is he is. The boy from Asheville, NC. The knock is that he doesn't 'dive into the pile' to make plays. If that is true, he is going to shed that creedo playing in Pittsburgh or he won't be playing. I will tell you what. He makes plays on the ball. We need that. We can help him with the rest dammit. He can return kicks too. Might be an ideal nickel or dime corner.
Round Five: Stevenson Sylvester, LB, Utah 6'2 231 4.7 40
Another linebacker! Not mad. Team captain at Utah.
Round Six: Jonathan Dwyer, RB, Georgia Tech HT: 5-11.5 229 lbs 40 4.64
I can't believe we drafted this cat. Not because he is not good. I just was surprised to see him available. Gets tough yards. Lord knows we need that. Got a little tired of seeing Mwelde Moore coming in on shortage situations.
Round Six: Antonio Brown, WR, Central Michigan 5'10 186 lbs 4.56 40
Another returner possibly. Special teamer and who knows, might make his way on the field at receiver. I feel like those last two spots are wide open.

Raise your hands if you had Tom Brady as a SUPER BOWL CHAMPION (of his own doing) when he was splitting time with Drew Henson at Michigan. Raise both hands if you had Phillip Rivers being the quarterback he was. Hell, JUMP AND DOWN IF YOU thought Drew Brees coming out of Purdue would even get a SHOT (I do know some people who like me, HOPED HE GOT A SHOT TO START but this? No.) How many of you 'West Coast' football fans shoved that Leinart over VY shit in people's faces because he was a 'prototypical quarterback'? How many of you dissed the USFL when we were little and thought NONE OF THEIR PLAYERS outside of Herschel Walker would make an impact in the 'League'? Thought Jim Kelly was bullshit? Thought Steve Young would get 'cremated' running around with the 'big boys' if he tried that shit he did but thought STEVE WALSH was gonna be a better quarterback? Yeah...Uh huh...I know...
Some of you are the same cats that told me Ty Detmer was a can't miss. Andre Ware would be a beast. A. Smith of the Bengals was going to change the game. Okay, so since you missed on all of these NOW WELL KNOWN SIGNAL CALLERS, maybe you should HOLD your opinions on Tim Tebow for a second. lol

He might not make it. He might though. I hear all this stuff about delivery when cats have overhauled their whole motion before. (I just mentioned a few up top) I would like to actually wait and see. We will soon find out though if the kid can play. For sure. Probably not this year though.
With all the talk of Tebow there is another 'very decorated' quarterback who has to decide. Armanti Edwards
Make no mistake about it, people are looking at him. We went down to look at him. (If you don't know who 'WE' is, look to your left in the corner. It says who 'we' are) No surprise since we like versatile players with speed, moxy, and throwing power. The Ravens, Eagles, Chiefs, Redskins, Panthers and others also have shown strong interest.
He is officially being listed as a receiver but hurry up and believe, he wants to play quarterback. His coach at App, Jerry Moore, says the same. Moore thinks that any team drafting him would foolish not to at least attempt to put him under center. With 10,000 yards passing and another 4,000 rushing, who can blame him.

Weight- 192 lbs (Up from about 180ish or so)
He has done all the things he was asked to do during his pro day. He returned kicks. Caught footballs. Played under center. I hope, of course, that we get our hands on him. More importantly though, I just hope he gets a shot. At quarterback first and then wherever he can fit in if that doesn't pan out. He is too special of a talent to not get some sort of shot at the NFL. Like Tebow, he comes in HIGHLY DECORATED and is a great leader. I hope he gets some of the same benefit of the doubt because of that as Tebow does. (Who I am rooting for too btw.)

I am not. I am not saying he is the next Tom Brady or some shit but I would like to 'see' first. Sounds like he has shown some improvement. Jury is still out but he got an invite to the draft. They don't just 'give those out' you know... So it sounds like someone is not only going to take him but give him a chance. At some point. This kid is a football player. I don't care what you say about his mechanics or whatever. I think he might be able to find a way to get it done. Like I said a couple of posts back on this subject. They gave Ryan Leaf a chance and I wasn't sold on him at all. Ty Detmer too. They had 'pro quarterback releases' and gaudy numbers. Hell, as a matter of fact, the aforementioned Tom Brady wasn't even projected to be 'Tom Brady'. Hence him being drafted in the 6th round. So you never know. Don't be so sure this kid can't. That's all I am saying. Some of you are SO CERTAIN he can't. I am not.

I brought the Saints up because WE OPEN OUR REGULAR SEASON THERE. Right there in the N.O. It should be crazy. Their confidence should be sky high and we should have the ultimate chip on our shoulder for squandering away last season with lackluster play in three very winnable games. You know the ones where for some reason, we thought we could just show and the opponent would lay down. Yeah, those games. I never make promises about what my team is gonna do so you won't hear any predictions here. I take it on a game by game basis. I know for a lot of you that is pretty boring. Sorry 'bout your luck. I don't pop too much shit. I just enjoy the games and root for my team.
Everywhere I go, I get asked the same questions. Do you think Willie is coming back? Is Rashard enough? Will you guys draft a DB? What about a QB? Mike Wallace should be starting! Will you guys make any moves in free agency? I also get the same statements. Ya'll ain't shit without Troy on D. You guys gave up too many points. Your O-line is suspect.
To all of you, 'cause as usual there are so many of you, let me address some of that HERE.
Willie Parker- You do REALIZE that we 'found' Willie Parker right? 99% of you didn't know who the boy from Clinton, NC was or that he even PLAYED FOR UNC until the Super Bowl win in Detroit. So you say? I say that to say that while FWP (Fast Willie Parker) may not be the old Willie, he still may be of some use. I also say that to say that if we found him, we can find another. Again, WE FOUND HIM. Sought him out thanks to Dan and that is only because Dan saw him in HIGH SCHOOL, remembered that he could fly and said, "Lets take a chance on this kid...". If he doesn't work out this year, we will be okay. I know we always draft at certain positions. This is one of them. No, I am not banking on Steffan Logan to play FWP either. He is a returner.
Rashard- I think Rashard is good enough to be the feature back AS LONG AS HE DOES WHAT HE IS SUPPOSED TO DO. That said, I know that we will be drafting another back at some point to help spell him and Willie (or takeover Willie's spot). He seems to have found his stride and learned some patience. I like Rashard.
The Draft (1st round or so)- This question is actually usually two questions. Who will we vs. who do I want. I 'think' we will draft another 'backer in the first round but we have been known to draft the best available player on the board out of 'our targets'. I could see us thinking future and drafting big Cody outta Alabama even WITH CASEY HAMPTON possibly getting the 'tag'. I couldn't actually be mad at that nor should anyone who has seen Mt. Cody play. Who do I want us to take? I WANT MYRON ROLLE. You see, I have been screaming to anyone who would listen, that we need dbs. Smart, played at a school with tradition. Good player. Not sure if we will draft him but I want a player in the secondary for sure. We are good at receiver, could stand a lineman or two but none that I like at the pick we are at and while we love linebackers, I have to ask whose spot would he take? So....DB it is. Either Rolle or if by some miracle, Mr. Mays out of USC. Yes, I know the latter is a dream but he isn't even my first choice. Next I would like to see us draft SOMEBODY, anybody who will get William Gay's ass off the field at the number two corner. He can play nickel just fine to me. (I heard that audible groan but I don't mind him there) On the islands though? No dice. He scares me out there and it is frustrating to see the kid giving fifteen yard cushions and still getting burnt like crispy bacon out there. I have faith that will also draft a 'Steelers' type of linebacker in the mid rounds. Like we always do. Farrior has had a great run but I see Fox getting on the field more with Timmons and they all will need some capable backups at some point soon!

Backup quarterback- Apparently, because Dennis threw the pick against B-more, he is no good. I am not of that belief. He is a beast. We need a third string qb though. One who can challenge Dennis for the backup spot that SHOULD BE HIS. Dennis filled in nicely for Ben and now that he has his sea legs under him, he should have more command of the offense. The playbook should be more open for him when he does get the opportunity to play as well.
Free agency- (Hearty laugh) While we have picked up Ryan Clark and James Farrior via this route, we normally don't 'do free agency' on a large scale. So there is little to no expectations from me in that regard. I do know of some people who JUST MIGHT FIT INTO our plans but we probably won't go get them. Kerry Rhodes is one of those players. (There is a theme I told you! I want us to have more dbs. Deal with it.) I wouldn't mind it if we picked up a vet running back or two. I hear that the other PA team may be parting ways with theirs. We did that before you know? @ Duce Staley.
Mike Wallace- I told ya'll that kid was good. Of course now EVERYONE knows it. So much so that you think he should start. Hold your horses on that. Hines had 95 catches for 1167 yards last year. Santonio Holmes had 1248 yards with 79 catches. Who is he AUTOMATICALLY going to start for? I'll wait. You done? Good. He will one day take Santonio's place (who will take Hines place) but not at the beginning of this season here. I can tell you that. This isn't Madden ya'll. Where Hines can't run anymore, can't get separation, has NO SPEED and all he can do is catch short passes and block. Wallace is "Holmes" lite right now which is GREAT. 'Cause no third DB will really be able to see him. He has to wait his turn. He did great last year with 39 catches for a very impressive 756 yards with a 19.4 yard average. That was possible because you had to key on Hines, Santonio and Heath. Lets slow down a bit on the he needs the ball more/he needs to start talk. Don't be filling my favorite slot receiver's head up with all these dreams and aspirations! lol Don't sleep on Tyler Grisham either!
